Does Flexsa impairs glucose metabolism and/or is contraindicated in diabetic patients?

Both short-term and long-term  (up to 3 years) clinical studies on glucosamine sulfate have shown that glucose plasma levels are not modified in normal patients, or in those with relatively high baseline glucose levels, or even in diabetics. No health authority has ever contraindicated glucosamine sulfate in diabetics (1,2,3).

Is Flexsa safe for shell-fish allergy patients?

Flexsa is obtained by a synthesis process (ensuring a high degree of purity), starting from a substance called chitin which is of sea origin. Chitin is a highly purified polysaccharide and it does not contain protein impurities responsible for allergic reactions in certain individuals. Any other potential impurity would be eliminated by the synthesis process. Flexsa is therefore not contraindicated for individuals allergic to shell-fish.

Is Flexsa safe for uric acid patients?

Uric acid is a waste product formed from the breakdown of purines -- substances found naturally in the body and in certain foods which has high protein content including organ meats, fructose-sweetened drinks, yeast and seafood, also including the intake of purine-rich vegetables (e.g., beans, peas, lentils, and spinach).

Glucosamine made from outer shells of seafood --not from its meat, thus doesn't contain purines. It isn't likely to increase uric acid levels or aggravate gout symptoms. Without treatment, episodes of acute gout may develop into chronic gout with destruction of joint surfaces and joint deformity. Thus, glucosamine may help to protect the joints and is definitely safe to consume regardless the patient has gout or not.

Flexsa is crystalline glucosamine sulfate which can dissolve easily in water. Flexsa helps in rebuilding the cartilage and reversing the progression of osteoarthritis disease.

1. CLINICALLY RECOMMENDED DOSAGE - 1500 mg for Mild to moderate OA
2. CONVENIENT - ONE SACHET a day
3. ORANGE Flavour– Improve patient compliance
4. POWDER FORM – Dissolves faster than capsules, tablets
5. POTASSIUM salt –The potassium chloride in Flexsa is to stabilize the Glucosamine Sulfate through crystallization. Unlike most of the Glucosamine product in the market, we use potassium as stabilizer because it will not affect the blood pressure level especially in hypertensive patients when consuming it.

Lots of people think they might have arthritis, but for some reason they never discuss it with their doctors. Many older people accept joint pain as a part of aging that can’t be avoided. They don’t talk to their doctor because they assume nothing can be done about it. Myths, like those, can pass from generation to generation, even though they aren’t true. And younger people with joint pain, swelling or stiffness might not even consider arthritis. They would be surprised to learn that people of any age can get arthritis, even children.

Arthritis can start in many ways, and can be difficult to recognize. It can come on slowly and be mild, or it can start suddenly and cause intense pain that surges within a few hours. The signs and symptoms can come and go over time. It might cause the classic issues of joint pain, swelling and stiffness, or it may first cause health problems that seem unrelated, like fatigue or a rash. Early signs of arthritis might be mistaken for an injury or the result of “too much” activity.
